I don’t normally have rules for dressing up, however weddings are the exception. With black and white out of the colour palette and hem length, baring shoulder and cleavage to consider, along with a dress that transitions from the day ceremony to night reception, the whole process can be a sartorial minefield! The key is to not upstage the bride so anything that screams “look at me” should be avoided (enter prom dresses, maxi’s with trains, multi-coloured sequins, see through dresses, plunging necklines, backless or cut-out dresses and jeans and a t-shirt!). Also it’s worth checking what colour the bridesmaids are wearing to avoid getting confused as being part of the bridal party. Bearing in mind all these potential faux pas, it’s still important to look your best 🙂
Pastels are having a fashion moment, a rather long one too since gracing the Spring/Summer 2012 catwalks. Not only did the candy shop trend take that summer by storm but it continued into our winter wardrobe (remember the pink coat obsession?) and has made a strong standing ever since!
